Sales agency The Playmaker Munich has finalized distribution agreements for the animated feature “The Unicorn That Said No” in ten territories. These deals were completed ahead of the film's market premiere, which is scheduled for Nov. 11 at the American Film Market in Los Angeles.

The international rights were sold to a diverse group of buyers. Unlimited Media acquired the rights for the Baltic states. WWE Rights secured the Benelux region, while KMBO obtained the rights for France. Grand Entertainment for Motion Pictures took on the Middle East, and M2 Films secured Poland. Idea Film will handle Romania, and Another World Entertainment will distribute the film in Scandinavia. Pack Magic acquired the Spanish market, and Orjinlab took the rights for Turkey.

In Germany, Warner Bros. Film Productions Germany will serve as the distributor. The local release date is set for Jan. 1, 2027. The film is an adaptation of the book “Das Neinhorn” by Marc-Uwe Kling and Astrid Henn. The source material has been translated into more than 25 languages.

The story follows a unicorn who finds his family's pink, idyllic world unbearable. He travels to Nowhere, where he forms a new group of friends. Together, they must rescue the king's daughter from a tower to return home. The film is directed by Kling, Johannes Weiland, and Studio Soi. The screenplay was written by Kling and Marcus Sauermann.

Kling provides the voice for the unicorn. The German voice cast includes Nora Tschirner, Torsten Sträter, and Karoline Herfurth. The production is a collaboration between X Filme Creative Pool and Studio Soi. It is a co-production with Warner Bros. Film Productions Germany. Uwe Schott, Nicole Kellerhals, and Carsten Bunte are listed as producers.

The project received support from MFG, MDM, BKM, FFA, and Kuratorium Junger Deutscher Film. Felix Raffel composed the music, and Dota Kehr wrote the main song. The Playmaker Munich will operate from the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles during the market.

Sylvia Edelmann, head of sales at The Playmaker, addressed the early success of the sales tour. She noted that it is wonderful to see so many territories on board before the film has even screened. Edelmann stated that the book is a hit with readers of all ages around the world. She expressed anticipation for bringing the character to even more audiences at the upcoming event.
