364 people were killed at the Nova festival site on October 7, 2023. Boy George will hold a press conference at that location on November 3, three days before his first Tel Aviv concert.
The singer arrived in Israel on Saturday via private jet. Sylvan Adams, president of the World Jewish Congress Israel, and Guy Besser, co-owner of Live Nation Israel, greeted him at Ben-Gurion Airport’s Fattal Lounge. Live Nation is producing the two upcoming shows.
Boy George stated he came to the country out of love and a belief in peace. He expressed a desire for the public to dance and celebrate together again. These comments accompanied the release of his July single, "We Will Dance Again."
The track includes lyrics reading "I stand with the Jews" and "You say genocide, I say war." Boy George said conversations with Jewish friends in Britain motivated the song. He noted that their feelings of being unsafe and powerless drove him to speak out.
Adams thanked the musician for his friendship and support during a difficult time for the Jewish people. Boy George added that the appreciation he received from friends was overwhelming.
The first performance is set for November 4 at the Menora Mivtachim Arena. Ivri Lider will appear as a special guest. A second show is scheduled for November 7. That concert is dedicated to the Nova community and their families, with DJ Ofer Nissim serving as the special guest.
