Polls in Dallas County open Tuesday at 7 a.m. for the Nov. 3 General and Joint Election.
Registered voters in the county may cast ballots at any local vote center. The Dallas County Elections office maintains a finder tool that lists all active locations and their addresses. Real-time wait times are also available through this digital map. Voters can verify their registration status through the Texas Secretary of State website by entering a driver’s license number or birth details. The system provides an instant confirmation of status and directs voters to their assigned poll locations.
The U.S. Senate race features Republican Ken Paxton and Democrat James Talarico. Paxton, who has served as Texas Attorney General since 2014, defeated incumbent Sen. John Cornyn in the primary. Talarico, a former teacher and state representative since 2018, won the Democratic primary against Rep. Jasmine Crockett. Sample ballots for Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, and Denton counties are available online for review before voters head to the polls.
Texas law requires voters to present acceptable photo identification. Valid forms include a Texas driver’s license, personal ID card, or election ID card issued by the Department of Public Safety. U.S. passports and military ID cards also qualify. Voters between 18 and 69 years old must present an ID that is current or expired by no more than four years. Those 70 and older may use an expired photo ID of any age. If a voter lacks a valid photo ID, they may present a government document showing their name and address, such as a utility bill, bank statement, or paycheck.
Voters may bring notes or sample ballots into the voting room. Electronic devices like phones and tablets are allowed but cannot be used inside the room where voting occurs. Recording devices are prohibited within 100 feet of any voting station. Political clothing, such as shirts or hats displaying a candidate’s name, is not permitted within that 100-foot zone. Children under 18 may accompany a parent or guardian who is voting.
Polls remain open until 7 p.m. on election day. Anyone in line at closing time is eligible to vote. The Secretary of State’s office offers a toll-free hotline at 1-800-252-VOTE for questions or issues. Formal complaints can be filed via a downloadable form submitted by mail, fax, or email. The information in this report comes from the Dallas County Elections website and the Texas Secretary of State’s Office.
