John Goodman will star in the second season of Netflix’s “The Beast in Me.”

The network confirmed the casting on Tuesday. Goodman plays Jack, the father of the central character, Aggie Wiggs. Claire Danes portrays Aggie and will return for the new episodes. The first season aired as a limited series. It competed for awards in that specific category earlier this year.

Netflix initially ordered the show as a limited project in 2024. The platform and production teams began planning a continuation after the first season ended. A writers' room opened earlier this year to develop the new story. Specific plot details for the second season have not been released.

Goodman brings a long history of television work to the role. He received 11 Emmy nominations during his career. Seven of those nominations came from his time on “Roseanne.” He won an Emmy for outstanding guest actor in a drama in 2007 for “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.” He also returned as Dan Conner for the “Roseanne” revival, which was renamed “The Conners” and ran for seven more seasons.

His other credits include “The Righteous Gemstones” on HBO and “Damages” on FX. He has acted in several films directed by the Coen brothers, including “Raising Arizona” and “The Big Lebowski.” His filmography also lists “Argo” and “Flight.” He is represented by Gersh and Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz.

The production team has adjusted its leadership for the new season. Howard Gordon, the showrunner for Season 1, will serve as co-showrunner. He will work alongside Daniel Pearle, an executive producer on the first season. Gabe Rotter remains the creator and an executive producer. Danes will continue to executive produce while starring in the series.

The executive producing team also includes Antonio Campos, Caroline Baron, Amy Lippman, Conan O'Brien, David Kissinger, Jeff Ross, and Jodie Foster. 20th Television produces the series.
