Brandon Aiyuk signed with Drew Rosenhaus on Monday to manage his return to the NFL at age 28.
The wideout has not played a down since suffering a knee injury against Kansas City in October 2024. San Francisco voided approximately $27 million in contract guarantees in July 2025 after Aiyuk missed mandatory rehab sessions. The team subsequently placed him on the reserve/left squad and reserve/did not report lists. Aiyuk spent the summer on social media demanding a trade and seeking a reunion with Jayden Daniels in Washington. In June 2026, an arrest warrant was issued after Aiyuk shared a video of himself running a 40-yard dash at 104 mph outside Levi's Stadium.
Front office leaders in San Francisco have indicated the relationship is finalized. General Manager John Lynch and Head Coach Kyle Shanahan stated Aiyuk is done in the Bay Area. When asked in September 2026 if injuries might force a reunion, Shanahan responded with the word "No." Washington also closed the door on a potential move by signing Stefon Diggs.
Rosenhaus is known for representing players who have damaged their relationships with teams. His client list includes Terrell Owens, Antonio Brown, and Johnny Manziel. In 2005, he managed Owens' public apology by telling reporters to ask the next question. He also guided Brown through his departures from multiple franchises.
Aiyuk recorded 1,342 receiving yards in 2023. However, he has been away from contact for two full seasons. San Francisco currently holds his rights without paying him a salary. Rosenhaus must first secure formal league reinstatement for Aiyuk. This step is required before the 49ers can execute a cut or trade.
The next step involves navigating the league's reinstatement process. Aiyuk must clear this hurdle before any new team can sign him. The 49ers will then decide whether to release or trade his rights. Rosenhaus will manage these negotiations on Aiyuk's behalf.
