Angel’s Envy has released a new straight rye whiskey that combines two distinct barrel finishes for the first time in its Cellar Collection series.
The release, designated Volume 6, was announced on September 28, 2026. It became available for purchase nationwide on October 9, 2026. Master Distiller Owen Martin created the expression. It is the sixth entry in the Cellar Collection, a line dedicated to experimental barrel finishing.
The whiskey is a blend of rye components aged for a total of eight to eleven years. Martin used specific finishing periods to alter the flavor profile. Some components spent 15 to 23 months in peach brandy barrels. Other components spent six to 12 months in toasted oak barrels. This dual-finishing process is a new approach for the brand, which previously focused on single-cask finishes.
Martin said the goal was to build layers of flavor while maintaining the spirit's character. “The Cellar Collection is where we challenge ourselves to explore what’s possible through finishing, while using the very best of our whiskey archives,” Martin said. He noted that the peach brandy barrels add fruitiness, while the toasted oak adds warmth. “Together, they create a whiskey that’s complex yet balanced, elevating rye in unexpected ways,” he added.
The bottle is 750 mL and contains whiskey at 106.4 proof, which is 53.2% alcohol by volume. The brand describes the aromas as ripe stone fruit, baking spice, vanilla, and oak. The palate features peach, caramel, cinnamon, toasted oak, and rye spice. The finish is described as long and warming, with lingering notes of oak and orchard fruit.
The release is limited to approximately 36,000 bottles. The suggested retail price is $199.99. This places the product in the premium whiskey category. The Cellar Collection is a limited-edition series that uses older barrels from the company's archives. Each volume involves years of experimentation and blending before bottling.
Angel’s Envy has established its reputation through the practice of finishing whiskey in secondary barrels. This process allows the spirit to absorb new flavors from the wood and previous contents of the barrel. Volume 6 extends this method by layering two different influences in a single expression. The release targets consumers interested in specific flavor profiles and limited availability.
The product is currently in distribution. The combination of fruit and spice notes aligns with the brand's strategy for the Cellar Collection. The release follows previous volumes in the series that featured unique single-barrel finishes. The dual-cask method represents a shift in the distillery's approach to limited-edition bottlings.
