Financial experts advise Texas residents approaching retirement to prioritize individual planning over predictions about upcoming midterm elections. Coby Culpepper, lead wealth advisor at Impact! Partners Financial, stated that the primary objective is to understand specific options and construct a plan suited to a person's unique financial situation.

The core issue involves how taxable income accumulates during retirement. Many individuals save in accounts where taxes are deferred until withdrawals occur. Culpepper noted that these withdrawals, when combined with Social Security benefits or pension payments, can result in higher taxable income than many people anticipate.

The tax implications extend beyond the primary account holder. Culpepper explained that inherited retirement savings can also impact adult children. He emphasized that decisions, such as transferring funds into a Roth account, require careful consideration to manage future tax liabilities effectively.

Summer Roberts, CEO of Impact! Partners Financial, is promoting her book, “Retire With Impact: A Comprehensive Guide to Retiring in Texas.” She is offering complimentary copies to residents who visit the company website. The publication focuses on specific strategies for managing retirement finances within the state.

The firm is also hosting a free workshop titled Taxes-in-Retirement on Saturday, Nov. 7. The session is scheduled for 9 a.m. at the Amphitheater at South Shore Harbour Resort in League City. It is open to adults between the ages of 55 and 72, and spouses are welcome to attend. The workshop concludes by noon, and seating is limited. Registration is available online at impactpartnersfinancial.com/tax-workshop.
