The Philadelphia Eagles are now 2-5 after falling 38-21 to the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night at Lincoln Financial Field. This marks the team's fifth consecutive loss, a streak not seen since 2016. The result extends a recent slide that has left the roster in its worst position of the season.

The defensive unit allowed 416 total yards against the Cowboys. The Cowboys rushed for 204 yards and threw three touchdown passes, all completed by Dak Prescott. Javonte Williams ran for 155 yards and a score. The Eagles recorded no sacks, no interceptions, and no forced fumbles in the contest. They stopped Dallas on only two drives throughout the game.

Tanner McKee started for the second consecutive week, a first for his career. He completed 23 of 35 passes for 211 yards and one touchdown. He threw an interception late in the game. His drive in the third quarter lasted 17 plays and covered 84 yards, ending with a touchdown pass to Makai Lemon. Lemon caught seven balls for 67 yards, setting career highs in receptions and receiving yards. He scored his first career touchdown in the process.

Saquon Barkley returned to the field after missing two games with a hamstring injury. He carried the ball seven times for 62 yards and scored a touchdown on the Eagles' first drive of the game. He later exited the match due to a back issue. Practice squad running back Elijah Mitchell, who joined the team last week, finished the game.

Britain Covey left the game after the first quarter with a knee injury. DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks were also sidelined, which increased Lemon's role in the passing attack. The Eagles' run defense allowed 5.4 yards per carry, the second-highest total allowed in the three years Vic Fangio has served as defensive coordinator.

The team begins a bye week period before traveling to Washington to face the Commanders on Sunday night in Week 8. The Eagles will enter that game having lost five straight contests for the first time since the 2016 season. Their last longer losing streak occurred in 2012, when they lost eight games in a row.

Head coach Doug Pederson was in his first year as a head coach in 2016. The Eagles have experienced only four longer losing streaks in the last 50 years. The current roster sits at 2-5, a record previously reached in 2021 before the team won seven of its next nine games to make the playoffs.
