Dallas and Philadelphia will both play with limited offensive firepower when they meet on Monday Night Football. The Cowboys enter the game as 4.5 point favorites in a contest that appears poised for low scoring based on recent trends. Kickoff is set for 8:15 p.m. ET at Lincoln Financial Field.
The primary driver for the low projected score is the recent scoring droughts for both squads. Dallas has averaged just 14.5 points per game over its last two contests. Philadelphia has matched that figure, averaging 14.5 points over its last four games. The total points line for the game is set at 43.5.
The Eagles will be without starting quarterback Jalen Hurts, who is sidelined with blood clots and may miss the remainder of the season. Tanner McKee will take the field in Hurts' place. McKee completed 26 of 45 passes for 215 yards and one touchdown in his first start last week against Carolina. He also threw one interception.
Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott has faced similar challenges. In his last two games, he completed 58 of 96 passes for 574 yards. He recorded two touchdown passes and four interceptions. One additional interception against Green Bay was nullified by a penalty.
SportsLine analyst Emory Hunt recommends the Under 43.5 in this matchup. Hunt cites the frequency of low-scoring games between these two rivals. The Under has hit in four of the last five meetings between Dallas and Philadelphia. It also hit in both games played between them last season.
The trend extends beyond just this rivalry. The Under has hit in each of the Cowboys' last two games. This includes a 23-13 loss to the Green Bay Packers in Week 6. For the Eagles, the Under has hit in three of their last four games.
The Eagles will also be missing receiver DeVonta Smith, who is out with a hamstring injury. Running back Saquon Barkley is listed as questionable due to a hamstring issue, though he is expected to play. The Cowboys are coming off two consecutive losses, while the Eagles have dropped four straight.
Both teams hold identical 2-4 records. The Cowboys are 1-3 against NFC opponents and 1-1 in the division. The Eagles are also 1-3 in the conference but hold a 1-0 record in divisional play. Hunt has a 31-18-2 record on his last 51 NFL picks involving the Eagles.
The betting market reflects the defensive nature of the recent performances for both clubs. The point spread favors Dallas, but the total points line suggests a tight contest. The data points toward a game where neither offense can establish a consistent rhythm.
