Atlanta Braves manager Walt Weiss is a finalist for the National League Manager of the Year Award.
MLB Network announced the selection on Monday. Weiss joins the Philadelphia Phillies' Don Mattingly and the Milwaukee Brewers' Pat Murphy in the race. Murphy seeks a third consecutive award in this category.
Weiss assumed the managerial role after Brian Snitker retired. The Braves finished the previous season with 76 wins and missed the postseason for the first time since 2017. Under Weiss, the team secured 94 victories. They also captured their first NL East title since 2023.
The Braves entered the postseason as the No. 3 seed. They defeated the Philadelphia Phillies in two of three games at Truist Park during the Wild Card Series. The team then lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers in a five-game National League Division Series.
The league will announce the Manager of the Year winner on Nov. 10. Braves pitcher Chris Sale, a finalist for the NL Cy Young Award, will learn of his status on Nov. 11. Sale is vying for a second Cy Young Award of his career.
